Dina was first described in UTOPAI, a novel I wrote between 2012 and 2017, set in a world after superintelligence. In it, everyone has their own AI that looks after their world and answers only to them.

That AI does more than run errands. Because it knows you and serves you alone, it can go and find what genuinely fits your life: you ask, and it does the looking. It draws on real reviews from people you trust, and brings back what is right for you, whether a product or a service.

Your memory

One memory, working for you.

Tell Dina once, and it does more than store the fact. It recalls the answer, sets the reminder, and brings the right context to every later question, drawing across all your vaults.

Each fact lands in its own encrypted vault, general, health, finance, work. You hold every key.

A date becomes a reminder.

Mention something time-bound and Dina sets the reminder for you, so the right nudge finds you later.

Your agents

Agent oversight.

Connect any agent you use. Before it acts, it submits its intent to Dina: safe steps pass through, anything sensitive waits for your yes.

Bring your own agent.

Point an agent you already use at Dina and give it a job, like emailing your manager. It works through Dina, which grants each task only the access it needs.

And it waits for your yes.

That email needs your Health vault, so Dina pauses and asks. You approve once, for that task, and the grant ends with it.

Every action has a risk tier.

Safe tasks auto-approve. Moderate ones ask once a session. High-risk ones, like payments and transfers, ask every single time.

Talk

Dina-to-Dina messaging.

Your Dina messages your contacts' Dinas over end-to-end encrypted channels, so only the two of you can read it.

Your Dina talks to your friends' Dinas.

A contact's Dina sends word over an end-to-end encrypted channel, and it arrives right in your chat.

And turns it into a reminder.

The whole protocol is open and frozen, so anyone can write a different app, in any language, that still talks to every other Dina. An open culture of AI, owned by the people who use it.

Security & crypto

Loyalty enforced by math.

One seed becomes a tree of keys: a vault per compartment, and sealed, signed messaging that only the recipient can open. The keys stay on your device.

The exact primitives, in the app.

Open the security screen and see what is actually in use.

  • One seed, a tree of keys. A 256-bit seed (your 24-word phrase) derives Ed25519 signing keys via SLIP-0010 under m/9999', plus a separate AES vault key via HKDF-SHA256.
  • A vault per compartment. Each persona is its own AES-256 SQLCipher database with its own key, isolated from the rest.
  • Core alone holds the keys. Brain and any agent run as untrusted tenants, and private details are scrubbed before any model call.
  • Sealed, signed messaging. NaCl sealed boxes (BLAKE2b nonce) around an inner Ed25519 signature. The relay only carries ciphertext.

On your device, and a network you can leave.
Your Dina runs on your device. A shared network carries messages and trust between people. Your data is encrypted before it ever leaves your device.

Core

Your identity, your encrypted vaults, your keys. The only thing that can read your data. Everything else asks permission.

Brain

The thinking layer. Reasons over your data, talks to language models, removes private details before anything leaves, assembles reminders and answers.

MsgBox

Encrypted mailbox for Dina-to-Dina messages. Carries them sealed between people, so only the recipient can open them. Run your own when you want to.

AppView

Decentralized reviews, reputation, and service listings, built on the AT Protocol. Real people, real experience, verified by cryptography. Anyone can run their own, and other apps can read the same records.
